Day two with Miss Amanda. We went out twice so I could show her the different types of light you'll get in the late afternoon (as before) and the morning (this post). I love my job. Really.

Proof that I AM quite hilarious:

And one more of Kenzie- how could I resist that purple in a field of yellow?!?

P.S. If you are interested in doing a Senior Session this year, go ahead and give me a call or shoot me an email. I've already scheduled several and will only be shooting them until May 8th!

I'm a little late with this blog post- I shot my cousin Amanda's senior pictures while I was home for Christmas. It had been a whole year since I had seen her family, and I am so glad I got to spend a little time with them.

They are from beautiful Colorado- you can see the Rockies from their front porch- and so I thought it was pretty cool that they would come to flat, windy West Texas and request a photoshoot!

Amanda totally rocked it, and since she's into photography it was fun to do a Q&A with her during the session. I also shot a few new headshots for my cousin Mackenzie, who lives far, far away in LA.

I said "part one" in my title because I know I have many more to share- I really was in love with the lighting, my lenses, and my subjects! For now, my favorites:

Lens flare has to be one of my favorite things.

This image is another one of my favorite things. :)

Can't tell they're sisters, can ya? *kidding*

Despite their evident hotness in the above image, here's how I see them most of the time.

Check out all that Hollywood Glam.

One of Amanda's faves.

To me this one says, "Let me be your TV Mom". Haha- hate to typecast you Kenz- but you play it so well!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

A skin care ad waiting to happen.

Love you both!

This is just a notice to any clients who currently have an online gallery up!

If your gallery has surpassed it's expire time (weddings = 3 months, portraits = 2 weeks), and it is still online, it will be coming down shortly.

I've reached the point where I am quickly filling up my online storage and will have to be more efficient with each gallery's online time.

Should your gallery expire before you are able to place your order, there will be a 30.00 re-hosting fee. I hate to charge extra, but space is limited.

Thanks so much! I will be sending emails to all who have yet to place an order in their gallery.

Right before Christmas I did a few headshots for my good friend Rebekah. She is an excellent massage therapist here in Lubbock and just opened a new business called Renewed NRG.

Headshots are always a lot of fun for me, because even if you're in someone's garage, you can still get a beautiful shot. Here are a few of my faves:

I get to visit Bekah tomorrow for some serious relaxation time! If you're looking for a massage therapist, call Bekah- she also has a mobile massage service in which she will visit your workplace and set up. She's pretty wonderful!

I also designed her business cards- so I'll post them as well. Thanks so much Bekah- you are beautiful!

a fun album spread + puppies!

Here's a fun album spread I liked while I was designing an album today...

Every album is different- I take my cues from the mood of the day. I especially love the colors and movement here.

In other news, our little Scottish Terrier, Willy, is a daddy! (No, Lola is not pregnant.) We bred him with a very lovely black Scottie a while back and just found out that she is expecting 5 (maybe 6) puppies. They are sure to be adorable! Thought I'd post it just in case anyone was interested- you know we love our Scotties.

Here's a video of our daily sing- usually after one of their many naps.

Thanks for tuning in- have a great day!

a session in the snow

When Marcy contacted me about a session while she and her family were in town for Christmas, I was so excited. She and her husband and son live in Canada, and little Hudson is such a cutie- I'd been wanting to photograph him for a while. So we set a date, and it was the one day it decided to snow in Borger, TX. I think they brought the snow with them!

This is why my clients are so great, though- they were totally up for it! Yes, we were freezing, and yes, it was more of a mini-shoot than a full-fledged photoshoot...but it was worth it. And I love the snowflakes in the images.

Here are just a few of my favorites...(f.y.i...Marcy's sister and her boys were along for the shoot- I just loved these cute little boys!)

Excuse me, are you aware that it's freezing outside?

a new year means so much

I've neglected posting over the holiday season, partially because I didn't want to get reflective. I have a tendency to get sentimental and sensationalize things. (Shawn knows!) But it's the year's end, and I have to have some closure...so I'll do my best to NOT get all mushy.

This year will mark my first year as a full-time, business-owning photographer. I never could have fully prepared myself for it, which is a fact I'm actually grateful for. I have been on so many adventures and experienced so many people and places I never would have been able to were it not for this new venture. I still sit at my desk some days and think, "What? I actually GET to DO this?"

With the year has come some refinement of purpose- in work and in my personal life. I read Ordering Your Private World and it was a bit of a kick in the butt. Hopefully the bruise will not go away too quickly- I need the daily reminder that I an NOT in charge.

Shawn and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary last night and I can hardly believe it! We had a great time with all of the ARLT crew and the ChooseLife Church in Hobbs, NM. I am so blessed by my husband...he is incredible. (I love you!)

As of now I am doing my best to prepare for an awesome 2009- I've got 3 weddings coming up in January, and I know they will all be a blast!

To my clients, friends and family: Thank you so much for all of your love and support of my business and me personally. You show me everyday what the love of Christ looks like and I'm so blessed to know you!

A good quote from the book I'm currently reading:

"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." -Thomas Edison

new blog! yay!

lissa-anglinComment

This will be my first official post here on my new online home. I'm so, so excited to have an all-in-one place where people can read my daily thoughts (here), and also check out my portfolio and contact me.

This new site is so much easier to update so I hope to be featuring a lot more helpful information for my clients, as well as the most recent photoshoots.

Sadly, there is a one (very busy) month gap between my old blog and this new one, so some past posts will have to be viewed over at the old site.
