Gracious. Fun. Loving. Creative. Kind.

These are the words I would use to describe Mark and Liz. Turn those words into a wedding, and you've got one girl (me!) who's really excited to photograph it.

Mark and Liz were wed at once of my favorite venues here in Lubbock- McPherson Cellars. I never get tired of its industrial, eclectic-with-pops-of-color look. Liz added an art deco twist, which I loooooved.

There were lots of details I loved capturing, but once Liz put on her headband- oh my goodness, she was stunning. And then once Mark saw...there's nothing like seeing a groom rejoice over his bride!

I'll let you see the photos. Enjoy this beautiful couple!

There is nothing quite like a brand new baby. Seeing little Tate reminded me just how incredible it is to see those tiny fingers and toes...clearly a miracle created by God! Sweet Tate did not feel like napping during his session, despite his mother and grandmother's best efforts :), but I think it may be a sign of what his personality will be like- there was too much action going on! And he loooooved to be held close by his family. That's a wonderful thing.

I also enjoyed photographing big brother, Timothy, who is the sweetest kid and sure to be an awesome big brother.

Enjoy these images!

We needed it so, so badly. Just to be anywhere but Lubbock for even a little bit. Don't get me wrong, we love our home/work/friends, but Shawn and I have been working our tails off! One of the toughest parts about my job is that I seem to be working most when everyone else is enjoying time off. So, this summer has been busy. And we are so thankful.

We took off for the weekend with my family (minus my sister Lauren and brother-in-law Steven, who were greatly missed). My aunt and uncle have lived in Denver most of my life and it was exciting to go visit them and smell the cool mountain air.

The weekend was filled with all the things we love- delicious food, swimming, shopping, coffee...and family! I wish I would have pulled out my "big camera" more on this trip (these images are a small fraction of all we actually did)...but sometimes I have to work on just experiencing life instead of photographing it. :)

My little boy is getting so big. He is such a good traveler. I'm not sure if I can explain how much I love this kid.

My Aunt Sally wanted to get Knox a Build-A-Bear and he loved it. We all secretly wanted to do it, too! He picked a black bear (appropriate for Colorado) and named it Nike.

We also went to a place called Tiny Town in the foothills. It had a mini-train to ride and my kiddo was SO. EXCITED. It started to rain just as we pulled back into the station, and no one cared. We all just sat around and enjoyed it. The smell of the rain on the pine trees was incredible. Of course, Knox loved the umbrella and all the puddles.

Friday (the 12th) was my Aunt Sally's birthday, and our DTE date as well! (I'll post more on this later- in short- this is the date our paperwork was sent to Ethiopia). So, we celebrated with some Ethiopian coffee.

LubbockWeddingPhotographer_1353.jpg

I think this photo is completely awkward, but I'm pretty sure this is me saying, "I deserve waaaaay more than a coffee for the amount of paperwork I had to do....". Shawn definitely did help, too. I'm just so glad that the paperwork is over. Another note- I wish I were capable of getting a tan. And whaaat is going on with my hair?!? Oh well...that coffee was delicious.

Layne shot these images of the never-still Knox:

We loved driving throughout the city and looking at beautiful old homes and mountains and TREES! Denver is such a cool city. Thanks Uncle Bill and Aunt Sally for letting us come!

I looked forward to Josh + Abby's big day since photographing their engagement session. These two are so obviously in love, it's a true pleasure to capture it on camera. I loved the scripture they had in various details throughout the day:

O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
— Psalm 34:3

It was a verse Josh had used during his proposal to Abby- and is such a perfect picture of what God intended marriage to look like!

After a ceremony at First Baptist Church, Levelland, the guests enjoyed a reception at the Watson Building here in Lubbock. It was beautiful and so much fun!

The best word I can think of to describe Jason and Abbey is FUN. These two are so great- I loved getting to hang out with them for an afternoon, and hearing about their journeys and perspectives on life. One of the things about my job I love best is getting to watch two people transition into one marriage- there's sacrifice, anticipation, and adventure. I know that these two have so much to look forward to- and I can't wait to capture that in photos.

Here are some of my favorites from our shoot in Lubbock.

Ahhh...there is just nothing like a backyard wedding. Picnic tables, homemade ice cream, mason jars, the shade of a big oak tree...

I loved shooting Cameron and Mikah's wedding. These two kept it simple, and still it was full of special moments and details. They had a crowd of family and friends there to help, and it turned out so beautifully. We were blessed to get to spend the day with these families!

I loved reading Mikah's commentary after the wedding:

"At the end of the day, all the details and planning don't mean a whole lot. Don't get stressed over the small stuff because if you get so caught up in all of that and what you always dreamt it to be... you forget why you are there in the first place. Just step back and remember why you are marrying that man and why God put you two together... the rest doesn't matter at all."

So true.

Enjoy these photos- it was such a gorgeous day for so many reasons.

Scott and Sarah met at Wedding Bells University (cough, cough)...I mean, Wayland Baptist University.

I can make that joke because I'm alumni. But seriously, that's the unofficial name. :)

Being WBUers, and having known Scott's family for a while, I was so excited when they contacted me about their wedding. And as it turns out, they are lots of fun and I got even MORE excited after hanging out with them for a bit.

We wandered around Lubbock during their session, blowing bubbles- Sarah will be an elementary school teacher- and in her words, "I can't imagine a better way to spend everyday that playing with little kids all day. Now I'll have a reason to play with bubbles and Play-doh." Love it!

We had a great time in the Texas heat. Enjoy these images!

$200 Mini-Sessions to benefit AlexM in Haiti

lissa-anglinComment

UPDATE! These sessions SOLD OUT in an hour! So thankful for all who took part!

Remember that time my very generous friend offered up several Mini-Sessions in order to help us with our adoption fund? They sold out in one day and raised $1000 for us. Incredible!

So, it's my turn. Alex and his oldest son, Jo, are heading to Haiti this summer and are funding it themselves. They're still short some of the money they need. Alex went last year with his church to help with the relief efforts and decided he needed to bring his family back. If you've ever been on a trip like this, you know how life-changing it can be. As a parent, I feel like trips like this are exactly what shape our children's world views, and are so important!

AlexMHaiti.jpg

I'm offering 5 Mini-Sessions for $200.00, including the digital negatives (a $310 value!).  They are first-come, first-served, so if you're interested, please email me at lissa.anglin@me.com.

The sessions can be anything- Engagement, family, newborn, maternity, etc...and last 30 minutes at one location.  They'll need to be scheduled before Dec. 31, 2013.

Please share this with your friends!

And...if you'd like to see what they did in Haiti last year, check out this video Alex put together:

it's 'doption day! • carissa and heavenly

lissa-anglin2 Comments

Today is a day to REJOICE! My wonderful friend, Carisa, has been in the process of fostering-to-adopt sweet Heavenly for several months now.

Carissa's heart and her story are incredible- and she encourages me in so many ways. After she decided that God had been leading her to adopt, she said "Yes", and waited without knowing anything about her future daughter. I want to have that kind of trust in the Lord!

You can read more of her story at her blog, HERE.  It's a beautiful one, please don't miss out.

I had the pleasure of photographing Carissa and Heavenly a few months ago, and wasn't able to share the images because of foster care law. But today, I get to show you what a lovely family God has made!

Congrats you two!
