This was such a fun family. When I say that I mean, I would totally go on vacation with them. :) These guys were laid back and willing to try everything I asked as we explored the National Ranching Heritage Center with them. I had a great time and totally enjoyed capturing these 4 awesome kids and their parents. Thanks for a great session guys!

I have so much love for this sweet family- we had a great session last week as the sun was setting, and I think I mentioned the beautiful weather about 50 times during our session. I'm just so thankful it is mid-December and we are not freezing! I loved the way Paige (mom) styled them and that even their sweet pup had a flower. Shooting with this crew was great. Enjoy the photos!

This sweet family made me really excited about having a little girl. I have come to realize that coordinating outfits (and schedules, and attitudes) for family pictures is just not an easy task. So when an adorable family such as this one pulls it off, I am left in amazement. Seriously! We had a beautiful evening to shoot, and I loved getting to know this crew.

4 Boys. Sometimes it's a mess, sometimes it's sweet, but most of the time it is totally unpredictable and I am 100% into it. I love photographing this family, because during our shoots, Chad + Laura (the awesome parents) make a point to just let their kids be kids. There is wrestling, and throwing things, and running around...and I really feel like I am able to capture a pocket of time for them so much better that way. Chad and Laura, thanks for trusting me and letting me photograph your family again! I can't believe how quickly these boys are growing.

I never get tired of photographing this crew. These girls are so sassy AND sweet- and getting to photograph them year after year has been such a treasure because their personalities are so different and both so much fun. Plus, their parents are pretty cool, too.

I love the way Jessica (my awesome and talented hairstylist) styled everyone this year- both girls have their nicknames on their shirts. Jessica's grandmother passed away this year and she wanted to honor her by taking a few photos with a framed photograph of her grandmother rocking an amazing beehive- the coolest! I thought it was a great idea. We also did a throwback to her grandmother's time when kids played with tin can phones- can't believe they really work!

Thank you, Cortez family, for being awesome and for a great shoot!

2014 Christmas Cards • Mini-Sessions

lissa-anglin1 Comment

All of the Fall Mini-Sessions for 2014 have been booked! I am super excited to see some new faces and some that I haven't seen in a year! Thank you to all who signed up.

If you would still like to do a session (family or otherwise) for Christmas photos this year, I am still offering regular portrait sessions. Just send me an email through the "Contact" page here on my website!

After much ado, I decided I hated the card templates I had chosen earlier, and decided to select some that I feel fit my design sense and photos much better! I'll blame this one on my right to choose. :)

These templates are not just available to my clients who are doing Mini-Sessions, they are available to all of my clients!

I love creating customized Christmas cards for my clients. We begin with one of the templates below, insert your photos (color or black and white), and customize the colors, text, and design to fit your needs!

Template 1

Template 2

Template 3

Template 4

Template 5

Template 6

Any of these designs can be adapted to fit a postcard (2 sided) or folded card (4 sided). I'm also excited to offer them in boutique shapes! Here are a few examples of the unique shapes:

Last time I got to photograph baby Julian he was in-utero :). It is really amazing to realize how much happens in that first year of life- this little boy is one of the happiest, most content little fellows I have ever met. He loves being with his parents, and though he gave me plenty of smiles, I also loved his curious/concerned face. Thanks for a great session, Jeff & Nanci- you have one sweet little boy!

what have we been up to?

Amazingly, as wedding season and the weather heats up, we have been able to have many special moments in the past couple months. It's been a growing year for our family- one where we've consistently had opportunities and responsibilities and more time than money and sometimes more money than time! As parents, I know we'll look back on this season as one where we established a lot of things for our little family of 3…there have been times where we've needed to huddle in close together, or go on an adventure, or remove all pressure and just be. Here are a few of those "soak it in" moments we've had in the past month or so...

Knox's school had an Easter egg hunt, and though I remembered to bring candy and eggs, I forgot his Easter basket. So, my kid had to hunt with a plastic bag. I know, Mother of the Year. But honestly, he could have cared less. :) They also got to hold a real bunny. I can't express to you how precious it was to visibly see how much he loved that little bunny. Upon placement of the bunny in his lap, he said, "Mommy, he looooooves me."

One of Knox's friends, Barrett, invited him to a very special birthday party where they got to ride horses! Barrett is obsessed with farm animals and barns and this was such a neat idea. I started to worry Knox may have some hesitation about it, but he jumped right on and soaked it up. This mama was loving all the photo opps. Love these sweet friends.

Last week we got to journey with the Pedroza family to Crested Butte, Colorado. It was a long (14 hour) drive, but amazingly the kids did great, and we got to enjoy time talking on the way. The Pedrozas live in Germany and are church planters- the last time we got to see them in person was a couple of years ago. So face-to-face time was wonderful! Of course, the Anglin family did not check the weather when packing, so we ended up with absolutely nothing to wear in the winter wonderland we ended up in. :) Thankfully, the cabin we stayed in was fully stocked with 80's-style ski suits and accessories, which we embraced with some sentiment, knowing this wasn't the first time in our lives we'd worn neon puff and played in the snow.

It was beautiful and peaceful. We all had a good combination of quality time with each other and some alone time as well. We also ventured into the town of Crested Butte and found some good coffee. I loved the aesthetics of this place:

One afternoon Katlyn had the idea to paint faces and the kids loved it! We let them paint ours as well. Knox wanted Batman, and after I did his face I asked him if he could fly. You could see the lightbulb go off in his head. His arms popped out perpendicularly, and he went swooshing about the cabin. Of course he could fly.

I feel like this first image is their band photo.

One of the most incredible parts of the cabin were the two guestbooks there. Because this cabin was built with a missionary retreat in mind, the pages were filled with words from mission workers from all over the world that had retreated to the cabin. Reading their comments and realizing the true enormity of the global work being done was incredible. This retreat was a true gift for us and we are so glad we got to go!

So, those are our latest adventures. It's sure to be a packed summer..so we are doing our best to savor every moment.

This is one of those moments where you realize life is moving so quickly- it seems like not so long ago Shawn and I were heading out of our college dorms at 10:30 pm go make a Sonic run with Nate and Laci…and now I'm willing to bet you that at that time now we're all fast asleep (or wishing we could be asleep, haha).

It's been incredible to watch our friends become parents- and now watching their little man enter the world. I have so much respect for Nate and Laci- they can have some hectic schedules but have managed to keep priorities straight and do everything with excellence.

Sweet Callan just fits right in. And his big sister Hannah loves him so. Thanks, guys for letting me photograph this milestone!

I can't tell you what a joy it is to photograph this family- such a gift to have watched Angel and Jessica become wonderful parents and to see their two girls with very different personalities grow and thrive. I love it!

Jessica is responsible for many boosts of self-confidence for me- she does my hair and I would recommend her or any of the fabulous ladies at Kadiza!

Thank you, Angel and Jessica for trusting me once again to capture your family!
