I stopped blogging about my grocery/coupon clipping adventures, because I figured that most of you who read my blog would rather see photography than a pile of produce. But I've decided that it's something I've found so helpful (and even fun), so I'm sharing!

I've learned a couple of things about this way of shopping- it's about buying more when you see a good deal, and then using it later. It's also all about buying only what's on sale, or close to free.

I've been doing this for a couple months now, and not only have I had extra money left over at the end of the month, but our pantry is more well-stocked than I've ever seen it. Bring on that blizzard!

Here's what I bought this week:

I went to 3 different stores and spent a total of 37.54. Doesn't look like much, but here's the breakdown:

Target had several pounds of Archer Farms coffee on clearance for 4.58. They did have whole bean, which helps preserve the coffee much longer, and we have a automatic grinder in our coffee machine (and consume about 1.5 lbs. every two weeks), so I jumped on it and bought 2. (The other one is already in use!)

Walgreens

Two boxes Kashi cereal @ 2/5.00. I also had a coupon for 1.50 off, so that made them 1.75 each.

True North Pecan Almond Peanut Clusters (sooooo yummy!)- on sale for 3.00, with an additional $3 in Register Rewards. I also had a 1.00 off coupon from their website.

Dove deodorant- Walgreens had a 1.99 coupon in the Sunday paper, and I had a 2.00 off coupon from the manufacturer, so I actually MADE .01 buying it!

United

A friend had told me to get to the grocery store early in the morning to pick up VERY discounted meat from the day before. I knew United had a sale on ground beef (which I always like to have around), so I ended up getting 4 lbs. of ground beef for 8.44!

I also snagged some ribs for Shawn @ 3.22.

The Sprite, Half and Half, and chicken broth were all regular price.

I had one "splurge" item- the raw honey. Heather and I came across the Lubbock farmer's market on Saturday morning, and found this delicious honey. I spent 14.00 on it- eek! Since I am making my own bread now, though, I use a lot of honey, since the recipe doesn't use sugar. This honey is made in Idalou, and so it will also help build our immunities since it is local.

Here are some new links I've founds helpful:

And check out my friend Emily- she is getting some steals! I need to take a couple lessons from her!

little miss josie • Borger, TX

Josephine is the daughter of my cousin, Scott and his wife Chrissy. Since they live in California, I haven't gotten to meet little Josie until now! She is a precious, tiny little thing- the most accurate representation of "china doll" that I've ever seen. I so enjoyed getting to hang out with Scott and Chrissy. They are totally laid-back, which is wonderful when photographing children.

Everybody needs a break now and then. It was amazing to watch the transformation in Josie's face once she was "home" with Mom.

I broke out my wide-angle lens and this is what happened.

I think she wanted to eat me, haha!

Love that you can see both her parents in the background of this one.

L.O.V.E. these next two. Probably some of my all-time favorites. Plus, you can see how tiny she is!

Kaci calls Las Vegas, NV home. BUT, her big brother got married here in Lubbock last weekend (those images coming soon!), and after she saw their Engagement pictures, she wanted to book her Senior Session while she was down for the wedding. This girl is a total rock star. I had to really get picky to narrow my favorites down to these few!

If you're interested in booking a senior session with Lissa Anglin Photography, please call or email me soon. Dates are already booking up for the fall!

Thanks so much, Kaci!

Yes, her eyes are really that blue. I didn't touch them at all!

My favorite favorite.

Kadiza Hair Studio Open House • Lubbock, TX

Kadiza Hair Studio and Lissa Anglin Photography hosted an open house in honor of their newly redesigned salon. It was a total success- lots of traffic in my photobooth, pizza eaten, and prizes won! I'm still a little sad that I wasn't eligible for that top-of-the-line steam flat iron. :( But I DID get some Double Dave's and I also got to hang out with the super fabulous ladies from Kadiza (some of whom you may recognize).

Here are a few shots from the event last night. I'll have more on Facebook soon! If you are looking for an AWESOME place to get your hair done- definitely check out Kadiza. The stylists there are the type that really know what looks best on you and they have the knowledge and talent to make it happen!

They kept cold drinks in the sinks! So fun!

Couldn't have done it without Shanna!

Photobooth time! (I had this custom vinyl printed. Just in case you're in the market, Shawn and I also sell vinyl banners for a great price!)

Lindsey, Holly, Natalie (owner) and Jessica- the stylists!

Freshly engaged!

I snagged a few images of the girls before it was all over. Here are a couple that caught my eye...

By the way, if you have a Facebook profile, you should definitely check out my fan page!

michael + heather = engaged!

Michael and Heather are some of my very good friends and have been dating for about 3 years now. Michael (or Murry, as we like to call him) is the keyboard/programmer for my husband's band - so we all get to see a lot of each other. Keeping this proposal a secret was a little tough, but so much fun!

Murry decided to propose to Heather while her family was down from Kansas City. We typically do a cookout with all of our friends on Sunday evenings, so to have a "Labor Day" cookout was no surprise. There were a few twists, though. Murry purchased a Bingo game (one of Heather's favorites), and we made our own cards (with this very cool site). We printed Heather's on yellow (her favorite color) and was sure to include the number 27 on it (their dating anniversary). I insisted we all play Bingo after dinner, and made Murry the caller. Shanna passed out the cards, making sure Heather got the right one.

So we totally rigged the Bingo game- but Heather won an awesome prize! All in all, I think she was pretty shocked! Here are a few images:

Murry looking a little nervous:

Murry calls the game while Heather (in the foreground) has absolutely NO idea...

Shanna won the first game. Can you guess what her awesome prize was?

Heather gets a BINGO!

Love this.

Gorgeous canary diamond on a gorgeous lady!

Shawn made a fun video of the evening and I would recommend watching it if you have a second!

Congratulations you guys!!!

There are several reasons why I love this family.

One would be that they traveled to Brownfield, TX from their hometown of Hobbs, NM just to meet me for their family session. I honestly don't have a free weekend till November 28, so it was wonderful of them to meet me where I was at, and trust that we'd have great locations!(Thanks to Google Earth I was able to do a little scouting the day before).

Two, they are totally cool with each other. I know that may sound silly, but I genuinely appreciate it when I get to capture a family really, genuinely loving each other.

Three, they love Jesus! It's evident in the way they treat each other, and the way they treated me. Plus, the boys are Family Force 5 fans...so that gives them 10 more points. :)

Hope you enjoy these fun family images!

Brothers.

I wish I knew what Philip was saying here- must have been interesting!

Amy wrote me the most encouraging note the day after their session- thanks so much you guys!

Hey Lissa,

Just wanted to thank you again for taking our pictures Saturday.  We
had the most wonderful time and we can't wait to see the pictures.
You know, boys never look forward to pictures (or most don't), but
Nathan, Matthew, and Philip had such a FUN time!!   They just fell
in love with your great spirit!!!   You made us all feel so
comfortable and the time flew!!!   You are exactly what I was
looking for.  Thanks again so much!!  Hopefully we will see you
around sometime!

Love, Amy Ross

I just love this family! I got to photograph Emily's sister last year, and now it's her turn. I know I've said it before, but I just love photographing seniors. Each one brings their own twist and personality, which gets me really excited.

Emily has a wonderful, laid-back personality and we did a lot of laughing. Not only that, but those eyes! You'll see...

Hello gorgeous!

I had to include this one because 1) Emily never second-guessed me when I told her to sit by the orange cone, and 2) I saw a lot of this expression through my camera! So fun!

Love!

Thanks so much Emily! I had a super great time with you and your Mom!

I just knew it was going to be an awesome shoot. And it was.

I'll be shooting David and Taylor's wedding in April, and I was excited to finally meet them in person. They endured the 100 degree heat with smiles and fantastic attitudes. I absolutely love Engagement Photoshoots because it gives me an opportunity to really get to know the couple- understand how they interact and what they like and don't like. David is a drummer in the Hogg Maulies- I haven't gotten to see them yet but I'm planning on it! He and Taylor met through friends after one of his shows, and the rest is history!

Thanks so much you two- you make the heat hotter!

P.S. I am fully aware of how cheesy that sounds, but I'm choosing to say it anyway. :)

Last Saturday I photographed Julie and Cameron's wedding at Ceta Canyon, and it was a gorgeous day. These two are so, sooo much fun and were surrounded by wonderful family and friends. You can tell from the way they look at each other that they really are in love. It's a beautiful thing!

Someone's excited!

I stopped to grab a shot of this purple weed and a bee landed on it! Score!

'

I couldn't decide between the next two...

Their first glance was an emotional one. It is always such an intimate time that makes your wedding day that much more special!

The ring bearer needed a little help getting down the aisle...

The reception was decorated beautifully- apparently Cameron was in charge, and he did a great job!

Cameron's mother MADE this cake.

Since I got the image of the bee earlier, I figured going for this dragonfly was a pretty safe bet...

Julie's Dad is a pretty funny guy- and I love this series from his toast-

This grandmother was so fun and spunky- and she was getting down to the Cha Cha Slide!

For the past few years, I get to keep running into these girls and I'm so glad to know them! You are all fabulous!

Thanks so much for a wonderful day- congratulations you two!
