We had the perfect overcast morning to do Gus's newborn photoshoot. Since it wasn't too long ago that I shot big brother Dax's photos, we styled some of the poses/locations after his. Looking at this sweet baby reminds me of God's creativity and craftsmanship- when Gus was first born, I thought he looked so much like Dax- but it's clear he is a very different boy! Still, though, he fits right in. It's amazing.

Thank you Becky (Gee, Guh, Gran) for helping!

I feel like the photo on the right accurately captures Dax's "Best Day Ever" face- haha!

Calvin and Dyana are expecting a little boy this October. They've picked the name Liam, which I just love. I have to give these two (especially Dyana) major points because they braved the hot West Texas heat for this shoot, laughing the whole way. Maybe it's because I have a little boy myself now, or maybe it's because I was there not too long ago- but I got terribly emotional while working on these images. It also might be because I was listening to this song as I was working:

Miss Presley Kaye has mad her big debut into the world! I was lucky to photograph her when she was only 12 days old. It's such an honor for me when clients invite me into their homes and allow me to capture such a new little person! This little girl knows her parents- it was amazing to watch her relax and enjoy them holding her and loving on her. Here are some of my favorites from my time with this sweet family!

This was Presley's first time on her tummy- and I think she kinda liked it!

They had my favorite swaddle blankets- Aden + Anais. So light and perfect!

I love this print- an Etsy find!

Here he is! Mr. Dax Dietz. Dax is the brand-new son of our very good friends, Zach and Shanna. He arrived just 10 days after we shot Shanna's Maternity Session- 2 weeks early! So we actually ended up doing his newborn shoot one day before his due date. This guy spent about a week in the NICU and has proven to be one tough little man! (Plus, he has some pretty amazing, God-trusting parents.) Now that he's home, he's quite comfortable...and I'm sure he and Knox will be up to no good before we know it!

After going through the images from this session, I selected my favorites...there were only 43 of them, haha! So, here is the very narrowed-down selection of favorites I have from this session!

I think you can see a little of Dax's cousin, baby Atlynn, in this image on the right. Red hair runs in the family- on both sides!

I love that when babies cry, they cry with everything they've got...and I still think it's cute...so I take pictures.

A (little) update!

It's been one month since Knox was born, and it seems like time has just flown by...and at the same time, dragged on. He keeps growing and changing (as does any sense of "routine" around here), and still I couldn't tell you what I've been doing for the past few weeks, haha. I am absolutely loving all the tiny new developments he makes day-to-day- smiling a little bit bigger, following us with his eyes, recognizing our voices, and holding our hands when he's having a bottle. He is such a precious, laid-back child. We took a little trip with some friends to Santa Fe last weekend and he was such a great little traveler! (Plus, we have some very patient and caring friends.) I'm sure some people must have thought I was crazy toting around a 1 month old in the cold (don't worry- he was kept very warm!), but being able to adventure with Knox has been one of the things Shawn and I looked forward to most.

Personally, I've felt a little blindsided at times. I'm not sure I would have ever been able to fully prepare myself for this transition (haha- if I could have, you KNOW I would have!). I've longed for some sense of a schedule- any bit of organization I could get! Everyone has said that it just takes time, which I'm finding to be true. Yesterday I realized that I've basically taken on a new career as Mommy and now have two jobs. (You mothers reading this are probably thinking "Yeah, duh!"). Seeing life this way has helped tons- instead of worrying about what I'm not getting done, I can focus on doing what I can well. I still have a passion for photography, my clients and my business. I can't wait to be shooting again. People have asked if I will stop shooting weddings- the answer is no! We have a jam-packed summer planned this year and so many exciting spring shoots.

I've done my best to document this little guy week-to-week, and I have to say it has been a challenge! I'm finally gaining some organization and energy back, but in those first few weeks finding the time to shower was a victorious occasion. Did I mention we have AWESOME family and friends? They have SO been there for us- doing everything like bringing yummy homemade meals to making grocery runs to restocking toilet paper and cleaning. Their kind attitudes have been such a blessing- and a great reminder to just enjoy the process. Thank you all for loving us so much!

Finally- here are a few pictures of weeks 1,2, and 3- you can see that poor Knox has dealt very patiently with his mother's every whim for a photo. :)

As you may have guessed, Mr. Truett Knox Anglin made his way into the world on Jan. 3rd! Everything went very well and we were (and still are) so blessed by the hospital staff, our families and friends. Here are a few (overdue) pictures from the hospital. I have my husband + sisters to thank for most of these images- they are priceless to us now.

Little Sebastian's 10th day to be alive was jam-packed with new experiences. First road trip from Hobbs to Lubbock, getting changed more than usual, being outside...and he was perfectly content the whole time! I was amazed at this little boy's ability to relax (and nap!). He did such a great job for his first photoshoot, and I loved the outfits (or lack thereof) that his Mommy brought. The perfect way to show off those tiny fingers and toes!

STRETCH! I have a feeling this is one face his parents will vividly remember from this point.

Sometimes it takes a bit to get comfortable. :)

Gorgeous family!

What a perfect little family! I got to photograph little Tenley at just over a week old, and she was so precious. I was totally impressed with new parents Nick + Natalie- Natalie somehow managed to get herself and Tenley ready to go while Nick flew into Lubbock literally 30 minutes before we started shooting. Watching them watch her made me so excited to see what our little one will be like! Congrats you guys!

Oh, I just love this sweet little girl (and her parents!). I've been honored to photograph Kora several times during her first year of life and this session was just as much fun as the others have been! Kora has the most precious, happy disposition- if you don't believe me- know she was getting over an ear infection when we did our shoot and she still smiled so much! Here are some of my favorites. Happy Birthday Kora!

I love all of her expressions!

My sister Layne made us some adorable signs that matched perfectly!

Almost a year ago I got to shoot with Ryan and Tiffanie, and then they told me how badly they wanted a baby. It had been a matter of great patience and prayer for them- and sure enough, just a few months later they had some great news to share!

I got to visit baby Ryder and his awesome parents in the hospital just a couple of days after he was born. He was perfect from the get-go! This was his first "official" photoshoot, so I was really excited to try out a few things with this sweet one. This was Ryder's first time to be out in the open air (without the comfort of a carseat, blanket or Mommy and Daddy), and he loved it! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

I asked Tiffanie to bring some of Ryan's sweaters. The texture of the fabric looks so pretty against that baby soft skin, but I also love the sentiment it brings to the image.

Ryan is a drummer and custom made this snare drum himself. Love this!

Just in case the above image makes you nervous, here is the one shot just before it:

The image on the left was an in-betweener. Ryder was getting changed and we couldn't help but notice how cute he was just hanging out with his little shoes on!
